In the last several years, San Antonio has seen incredible growth. More people are moving to San Antonio, causing the housing market to grow consistently stronger. In the last two years alone, more homes have sold for better prices…and the upward trend is still continuing! The statistics prove that San Antonio’s housing market is still growing stronger in all areas!

This growth is especially obvious in several neighborhoods around the city. We’ll tell you about the top three most popular places to buy a home in San Antonio. There’s a reason these communities are thriving!

1. Alamo Ranch

Location: Northwest San Antonio (TX 151/Loop 1604)

Subdivisions include: The Trails, The Hills, Santa Maria, The Terraces, The Preserve, The Summit

Without a doubt,  the Alamo Ranch community has been the fastest-growing neighborhood in San Antonio, and for good reason! This community provides a Hill Country feel while still located well within the city limits. Its close proximity to shopping, Sea World, and local highways make it the perfect place for a homeowner who wants a peaceful living environment without the pain of commuting.

Because Alamo Ranch is so extensive, you’ll find a wide variety of home styles and prices. Builders include reputable names like Centex, DR Horton, Pulte, Lennar, Scott Felder, and more. Depending on which area you’re looking into, homes range anywhere between $150k and $575k. The Summit, Alamo Ranch’s most luxurious subdivision, includes exclusive amenities and a 24/7 gate guard system.

Due to its location, Canyon Springs has plenty of room to spread out. The neighborhood has been planned to include sizable green spaces. Beautiful views, live oaks, and rolling hills set this neighborhood apart from its more urban counterparts.

Centered around the beautiful Canyon Springs Golf Course, homes range anywhere from the more modest homes in the Bluffs of Lookout Canyon (starting at around $225k) to the luxurious homes in The Estates and The Summit (which can reach into the $800k range). Canyon Springs has been strategically divided into many smaller neighborhoods, allowing each to have a more intimate feel and a variety of home styles. Amenities include a park, junior Olympic-sized pool, tennis court, basketball court, pavilion, and playground area.

Because Canyon Springs is located on 281, it’s only a quick drive away from both downtown San Antonio and the beautiful scenery of the Hill Country. However, you don’t have to drive far to find what you need. Shopping has been growing quickly in the areas around Canyon Springs, from fashion to grocery to fine dining.

Unlike the previous two neighborhoods, Fair Oaks is its own entity. With a population of 6,569 people, the city of  Fair Oaks Ranch has the feel of a small town. Look closer, however, and you’ll notice that this Texas town is a cut above the rest! When it was established in 1988, Fair Oaks was meant to be a place for families who enjoy the outdoors but want to stay close to the city. The town funnels into the Boerne ISD school system, which is known for its excellence in academics and well-rounded students. The town has a close-knit community, made up mostly of families who work in the city of San Antonio. The crime rate remains one of the lowest in the country, adding to its appeal. Fair Oaks was also recently ranked #5 on a list of Best Places for Military Retirees!

Homes in Fair Oaks Ranch can range from $250k to $600k (and even higher), but the median price is around $420k.  You’ll be able to find either a modest, well-built home or a luxury home…whatever you’re looking for! North of the city but much closer than Boerne, Fair Oaks is perfect for a family who wants room to breathe without sacrificing big-city fun.
