A relatively new addition to the San Antonio fine dining realm, Silo has already been listed as one of OpenTable’s Top American US Restaurants! Silo’s atmosphere is upscale, but still relaxing. Besides evening dining, this establishment offers occasional lunch and brunch menus as well. You can enjoy world-class food at any of the three locations around the city.
-Boiler House Texas Grill and Wine Garden (Pearl Brewery)
Located in the historic Pearl Brewery complex on Broadway, The Boiler House is upscale Texas Hill Country food. Executive Chef Jeff White strives to use fresh, local ingredients to create excellent food, which is paired well with fine wine and craft beer.
-Biga on the Banks (203 S St Mary’s St)
Biga is a San Antonio favorite! This restaurant was voted the best Riverwalk eatery on Zagat and was recently featured in Texas Monthly for its “new American cuisine.” Their menu is seasonal, meaning you’ll only be served the best and freshest ingredients in creative dishes. The elegant atmosphere overlooks the scenic San Antonio Riverwalk and is perfect for either dinner for two or a large gathering.
-Cappy’s (5011 Broadway St)
Cappy’s is a favorite among gluten-free residents! This establishment offers an elegant atmosphere with excellent seafood, steaks, etc. Considered “American” cuisine, Cappy’s is a unique take on fine dining and fresh ingredients.
-Vegeria Vegan Restaurant (8407 Broadway)
If you’re vegan or gluten free, you’re probably craving Tex Mex by now! Thankfully, Vegeria specializes in vegan/gluten-free cuisine in this category. Surprisingly, this gem isn’t only healthy, but inexpensive. Even non-vegans will enjoy this local establishment.
-Cerroni’s Purple Garlic (1017 Austin Hwy)
Gluten-free residents usually are resigned to the fact that good pizza is a thing of the past. Thankfully, Cerroni’s is here to save the day! Famous for their gluten-free pizza (using Bob’s Red Mill flour), this restaurant delivers good food at good prices. They also offer gluten-free pasta!
-The Cove (606 W Cypress St)
The Cove is definitely a San Antonio local favorite. Known for delicious gluten-free burgers, this place is famous for its unique atmosphere. They regularly host local entertainment, providing live music, etc. on a regular basis. The Cove is also a Laundromat and carwash with picnic-style seating. Their menu is surprisingly healthy, including ethically raised meat, organic ingredients, etc. If you’re new to San Antonio, you need to check this place out!
Mexican and Tex-Mex

If you’re looking for Tex Mex in San Antonio, you can’t miss out on Alamo Cafe. This establishment has attracted quite a few regulars over the years. Alamo Cafe is great Tex-Mex in a fun, authentic environment. They even offer traditional Texas dishes like chicken fried steak!
-Mixtili (5251 McCullough Ave)
Mixtili is certainly unique when it comes to Mexican Food! This artisan establishment seeks to provide the freshest, most local ingredients and transform them into authentic, high-quality dishes. Only a certain amount of seats are available per evening, and you must book ahead of time. A must-try for foodies in the San Antonio area!
-Mi Tierra (800 Dolorosa)
San Antonio is known for its delicious Mexican food. Open 24 hours a day and decked out with year-round Christmas lights, Mi Tierra is at the heart of San Antonio’s Mexican food culture! The authentic atmosphere is complemented by top-notch handmade food, margaritas, and live mariachi bands.
Breakfast and Coffee
-Local Coffee (The Pearl / Sonterra/ Broadway)
If you’re into high-quality java, Local Coffee is an absolute must-visit! With three locations around the city, Local has gained quite a loyal following. The atmosphere is perfect for either a cup of coffee and conversation or a morning of reading and working. Offering pour overs, brewed coffee, and a variety of iced and espresso drinks, you’re sure to find your regular order very quickly.
-Magnolia Pancake Haus (Embassy Oaks | Medical Center)
If you want a delicious breakfast, you have to try Magnolia! This classic eatery serves home-style breakfast that’s always made from scratch. Their “World famous pancakes” are reminiscent of the owner’s German heritage. If you’re hungry later in the day, you can also pop in for a salad or sandwich off of their lunch menu!

If you’re in the Alamo Heights area, you’ve got to stop into this bakery with a twist. Bird Bakery serves coffee, pastries, and lunch specialties every day! The irresistibly cute atmosphere is what sets this place apart...it’s perfect for lunch with a friend or loved one. They also offer custom cakes and catering for parties and weddings!
