Never lacking a major sporting event, this weekend San Antonio welcomes the PGA Champions Tour to town for the San Antonio Championship. The AT&T Canyons Course at TPC San Antonio plays host to the event, which is a marquee showcase of some of the world’s top golfers on the second leg of their careers. TPC San Antonio is fairly new to the San Antonio golf scene. The golf resort opened in 2010 in conjunction with the 1,002 room JW Marriot San Antonio Hill Country Resort and Spa. The San Antonio Community was elated this summer when the San Antonio Missions were named a UNESCO World Heritage Site. San Antonio is invited to a celebration on Friday night at Mission Concepcion featuring music, food trucks, activities, and a laser light show projecting onto the mission itself. The lasers will portray the many frescos that would have originally decorated the Mission. Best of all, the entire event is free, offering the perfect opportunity to usher in a beautiful autumn weekend in San Antonio.
