One of the greatest benefits of living in San Antonio is the variety of “things” to see and do. In fact, there are so many San Antonio attractions and events on any given weekend that it can seem overwhelming to choose just one. In this series all pressure is off! Ten fun things to do in San Antonio will be chosen each week to make researching for the next Friday celebration, date night, or family outing a little more simple.
- 1. Jump in Line!
The Playhouse San Antonio has a new show in town for you! Get your ticket for A Chorus Line and experience the musical that will have you wanting to jump in line yourself! The show features the story of several actors, all hoping to have a stellar part in an upcoming Broadway musical. Follow along as they sing and dance their way to the top, trying to prove they’ve got what it takes to become a Broadway star. With catchy musical numbers and dance moves galore, you won’t want to miss San Antonio’s fantastic production of this musical!

- 2. Listen to a Tune Under the Stars
Looking for a fun evening with live music for entertainment? Look no further than Music Under the Stars. The evening consists of a local middle school band performance and local San Antonio “party” band, Finding Friday. Additionally, there will be a plethora of food trucks available (including Gilbo’s Grill, Big Guidos, Lady K Comfort Food Delights, and more!). Guests are welcome to bring lawn chairs and blankets to create a comfortable atmosphere and beer and wine coolers will be available for purchase. Join in on the fun for a relaxing evening underneath the stars.

- 3. Find Humor in Men and Women
Surely you’ve heard of the best selling book Women are from Venus, Men are from Mars. This one-man-show is based off of John Gray’s hilarious laugh-out-loud book on the humorous ways that men and women communicate. Playing up the differences of each gender, this show allows each audience member to notice keen differences between them and their partner. It’s the perfect show to attend with a date so that you can quietly nudge them every time a dig is made at the opposite gender. Laugh out loud with this fun comedy experience at the Tobin Center!

- 4. Picnic on Houston Street
A Saturday picnic is the perfect event to attend when San Antonio’s spring weather is in full swing. Gourmet picnic baskets are available for purchase this Saturday, with food coming from restaurants like Bohanan’s, the Palm, and Market on Houston. You certainly won’t be stuck with soggy sandwiches during this event! Live music, wine, and beer amplify the atmosphere of this fancy picnic and allow you to enjoy Houston Street in an entirely new way. Get your ticket ahead of time for this event to ensure that there are enough baskets to go around!

- 5. Dance the Flamenco this Friday
Carmens de la Calle is giving you an authentic flamenco experience this Friday or Saturday! The vivid costumes, fluid dance moves, and lively music will offer you a true experience. Come see the show with genuine flamenco dancers and watch as they perform numerous dances for your entertainment. While you watch, enjoy live music, delicious food, and various drinks from the bar. You’ll feel like you’re on vacation as you sit back, relax, and enjoy this style of dance.

- 6. Get a Taste of Tejano
This Saturday marks the 35th annual Tejano Conjuncto Festival in San Antonio. Mark your calendars so that you don’t miss the multiple performances throughout the day by Conjunto Music Hall of Fame winners and national musicians in the Tejano genre of music. With performances all day long, bands, and dancing, you are sure to have a great time as you experience the Tejano music that is so widely known and loved in the San Antonio, Texas community. The event starts on Friday and extends until Sunday; however, feel free to get a one-day ticket if you can’t make it for the entire weekend!

- 7. Discover a Hidden World
The Witte Museum presents its newest exhibit for you and your family to come discover! Maya: Hidden Worlds Revealed allows you to learn about the ancient Mayan society through interactive experiences. Come browse the authentic artifacts as you read and learn about Mayan culture. This exhibit is the largest traveling showcase about the Maya that has ever been toured in the United States. If you don’t have the opportunity to attend this weekend, it will be at the Witte until June!

- 8. Walk Through Nature
Enjoy the outdoors this weekend with a nature walk led by hiking leader and instructor Ron Tullius. The Texas Master Naturalist will help you to identify Texas native wildlife along the way. With a stop at the bird blind, you’ll be able to see indigenous birds in their natural habitat. Additionally, the tour will visit natural beehives found at the park. The entire tour promotes conservation of our Earth’s natural resources and teaches participants how we can not only sustain, but enhance our world. This event is the perfect excuse to spend a morning enjoying the great outdoors!

- 9. Grab A Local Cup of Joe
San Antonio favorite, Local Coffee, should definitely make it on your list of places to try. This quaint coffee shop has a hip atmosphere for you to hang out, whether you are working on your laptop or chatting with a friend. The shop carries coffees from only the best roasters in the country and each cup is brewed perfection. They also have delightful little snacks and treats to accompany that wonderful cup of coffee. Now with three locations (one at the Pearl, South Presa, and Sonterra), you have an excuse to stop by whenever you’re in the area!

- 10. Get Ready for Tomorrow
Grab your kid and get ready for SA Tomorrow! The program at the DoSeum gives kids the opportunity to learn about sustainable growth in San Antonio. Different activities provide a learning experience, such as a Megalopolis exhibit, which allows kids to build their own cities. Kids can design their metropolis using various recycled materials. This is a great chance for parents to educate their children on what it means to live in a city and the different ways we can sustain the growth of San Antonio. The DoSeum stresses that the activities are primarily designed for those between the ages of 7-11 years old. RSVP for a time here!
