Hundreds of agents and staff members associated with Keller Williams Realty San Antonio will be out in the local community Thursday, May 14. While it’s likely to see agents out and about selling real estate, on this day they will be participating in RED Day- Keller Williams’ annual day of service.
First celebrated in 2009, RED Day is just another example of Keller Williams’ commitment to each other and to the cities and towns where they live and work. Standing for Renew, Energize and Donate, RED Day has become an annual event within the Keller Williams organization. Stemming from Keller Williams’ strong core value of year round commitment to improve local communities, thousands of Keller Williams real estate professionals and other volunteers in the United States and Canada will spend the day out of their offices and away from clients in order to serve worthy organizations and philanthropic efforts in their communities.
Nationwide, Keller Williams associates will rebuild houses, while others will clean up parks, lakes and rivers. Other projects associates will participate in may include collecting food for food banks, hosting blood drives and donating their time and services at various shelters.
Nearly six years ago, RED Day began as a way to honor the birthday of influential vice-chairman of the board, and former president and CEO, Mo Anderson. Recognized as continuously cultivating the KW value system, Anderson has inspired countless associates throughout the US and Canada to "maintain high standards of character within both their personal and professional lives."
Since the first RED DAY, Keller Williams associates have donated almost a half million hours of community service. In the past, Keller Williams San Antonio offices have volunteered at Morgan’s Wonderland, the Ronald McDonald House, and the South Texas Children’s Home, among others.
This year, over 150 associates from several Keller Williams San Antonio offices are expected to participate in RED Day. In addition to assisting at the San Antonio Food Bank, they will be hosting a blood drive in conjunction with the University Health System. But it’s not the just the philanthropy that has the associates excited about this year’s RED Day. “This year is particularly special to us because our blood drive will be benefiting one of our own Keller Williams colleagues,” says Susan Schuemate, chairman of the social committee with Keller Williams Heritage. “We always enjoy RED Day, but because this year we are not only giving back to community, but also giving back to one of our own, I think it will be particularly memorable.”
The blood drive will be set up and run by the University Health System at the San Antonio Food Pantry, where the associates will be donating their time, effort, and resources. “We are seeking donations of food prior to the event, but would love for the community to come donate blood from 9 am to 12 pm on May 14th ,” encourages Schuemate.
