#KWQ10: Talking Core Values and Reinvention with Kimberly Springfield

This month we recognize Kimberly Springfield as our rising star. After a long and successful career in sales leadership in the medical equipment field, Springfield decided to pursue a lifelong dream of becoming a REALTOR®. And, it seems that her record of success goes beyond one career- after only one year in the real estate industry, Springfield has landed herself on the top “new agent sales" list at the Keller Williams Heritage Office. With a volume of nearly 14 units written, and over $2.5 in home sales, Springfield has proven that her years of sales experience, passion for helping others, and extensive knowledge of the community have not gone unnoticed. Though she is busy with her new career, she still maintains her passion for community involvement in New Braunfels, her home for over 25 years. Treasurer for the PTA, Founding member of the New Braunfels Toastmasters chapter, board of directors for the United Way of Comal County, and the NBISD All sports Booster Club would only be mentioning a few of the organizations she is involved with. With core values that align closely with the KW culture and a knack for sales, Springfield has successfully and seamlessly transitioned from newbie to pro in record time.

Q1: What did you do before real estate?

My degree is in Advertising, but I have always been in sales in some capacity. I had a long and rewarding career in sales leadership in the Durable Medical Equipment field.

Q2: How did you choose KW?

I have a niece who is a very successful young agent with KW, and she initially sold me on the KW Culture. Then, when I met all of the awesome agents and leaders at our Market Center, I realized that KW’s core values and mission are closely aligned with my core beliefs, which is a very important factor to me. I have learned that life is too short to work with a company that you don't believe in, or with people who don't share your values.

Q3: What has been your biggest challenge so far?

I had a couple of pretty significant setbacks when starting my new career, starting with falling and actually breaking my leg at one of my very first showings! (I now wear flats every time.) When my beloved Dad passed away two weeks after I broke my leg, I wondered if maybe God was trying to tell me something about my new career choice. But, since then, and to this day, He has shown me otherwise again and again. I now know that I CAN do this, and I feel very blessed.

Q4: What has been your biggest reward so far?

Well, at the risk of sounding corny, I really, truly love people, and finding out what makes them tick. I very rarely meet someone that I don't genuinely like. Getting to meet so many new friends at work, and helping my clients through what can be a tricky process has been a real joy! Also, I have found that people in this business, and the partners that support us, are a pretty awesome, fun loving group.

Q5: What has been the biggest benefactor in your success?

God helping me to find the strength to reinvent myself mid life. Going from a subject matter expert in your field to a newbie can be more challenging than you might think!

Q6: Where do you find inspiration?

My biggest inspirations are my husband and teammate Larry, and our three wonderful children, two of whom are in college. Having two kids in college, and one heading there soon, is VERY inspiring, to say the least. Also, my Dad instilled in me the desire to be the best and give it my all, and to be unafraid. It is very important to me to do a good job in my chosen field.

Q7: What is your favorite thing about San Antonio?

I love the feel of San Antonio- a big city with the warmth of a smaller town. I have lived in New Braunfels for over 25 years, and I am pretty sure that this is the best part of Texas!

Q8: Name one thing we might not know about you.

I am a huge fan of almost all kinds of music, with classic rock being my favorite. I listen to it at an embarrassingly loud volume to get me going in the morning.

Q9: What is your favorite restaurant?

Hmmm, this one is hard because I love to go out to eat, and I love trying new things. For special occasions, I LOVE Huisache and Gruene River Grill in NB. For lunch, I could eat at Four Kings in Universal City every single day. Sorry, I just CAN’T pick one!

Q10: Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

I hope in ten years to have built a thriving business that allows me to travel the world and spend time with my family and grandchildren to come! I will use what I have learned to help mentor others to achieve their career goals, and to hopefully have a more rewarding life. I want to make a difference!
