In just 9 years, KW San Antonio’s organization “Hearts and Hands” has gone from a grassroots benevolence fund to an official 501(c)(3) nonprofit that has raised and donated over $465,000. This sort of transformation is a feat for any full-time charitable organization…so how did a full time San Antonio real estate brokerage end up supporting over 2 dozen charities in the past 10 years?
In 2005, several KW Heritage REALTOR®s started a charitable fund to assist coworkers who needed financial assistance and encouragement. What started as an act of care for coworkers quickly spread to the rest of the brokerage. Inspired by the idea of “paying it forward”, KW associates decided to take the idea to the next level. Thus, Hearts and Hands became its own 501(c)(3), and the coworker benevolence fund was continued independently.
Because the brokerage found its members so willing and eager to give back, the decision was made that Hearts and Hands would continue to do what it did best: raise money! The proceeds would then be donated to a worthy charity. Hearts and Hands now funds public outreach and volunteerism opportunities, specifically in the San Antonio area.
Obviously, giving back has become a huge part of the culture at KW San Antonio…as evidenced by the recent golf tournament fundraiser, which brought in 65,000 dollars in just 8 hours! The money was donated to Camp Discovery, a children’s oncology camp in the area. The golf tournament was one of the two major fundraisers the charity puts on per year.
The giving culture at KW San Antonio is obviously thriving. The brokerage desires to invest in the community holistically: this includes selling homes with excellence, caring for each other, and giving back to the local community.
