1. Celebrate Texas Independence
God bless Texas, y’all! On March 2nd, the Alamo will host a celebration of Texas Independence Day, the anniversary of the adoption of the Texas Declaration of Independence (1836). Join your neighbors at the Alamo with interactive stations for all ages including live music and cake!

2. Taste the Flavors of San Antonio
An annual charity event put on by the San Antonio Current, “SA Flavor” features sample bites from 30+ local restaurants in various cuisines, craft beer and wine, signature cocktails, and a live Culinary Showdown (starring four top San Antonio chefs and celebs). Live music and beats will be provided by SoundCream, and attendees can admire Contemporary Art Month art installations. Visit the website for more details and to purchase tickets!

3. Don Your Mardi Gras Attire
Mardi Gras is kicking off in March this year, and the San Antonio River Walk is going to celebrate in style. The Mardi Gras River Parade & Festival (sponsored by Bud Light) will feature decorated river floats, live entertainment, and tasty food trucks. Feel free to come and wear masks, costumes, and beads— and the event is free!

4. Adopt a Puppy
Although March might mean spring cleaning for some, for others it might mean finally getting that puppy you’ve always wanted! Thankfully, the San Antonio Humane Society is partnering with FujiFilm for “Shoot for Adoption” event! Take photos with the animals and share them on social media.

5. Learn the Nuts and Bolts
Every object has a story of how it’s made. To tell those stories, The DoSeum is currently hosting a traveling exhibit called How People Make Things! Celebrate the story of the people, processes, and technology used to make everyday objects we know and love. This exhibit was inspired by Mister Rogers’ Factory Tours!

6. Compete in a Golf Tournament
Play golf for a cause! The 8th annual “Golf fore Friends Tournament” benefits the CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Health System. Spend a beautiful day on the golf course with lunch, auctions, and music to enjoy! Sign up here to register for the day!

7. Sway to Jazz on the River
Looking for an excuse to visit the San Antonio River Walk? Head to Jazz on the River from March 2nd through 5th to listen to brass bands, trios, and jazz ensembles float by and fill the night air with hazy tunes. We recommend booking a table at your favorite River Walk patio to enjoy the sounds!

8. Experience the Water Lantern Festival
One of the more romantic festivals happening this month, the Water Lantern Festival will include food trucks, music, and (of course) the magical sight of paper lanterns floating into the water. The cost of a ticket includes entry, a floating lantern, a commemorative drawstring bag, and the cost of cleanup.
When: March 9, 4:30 - 9:00 PM

9. Celebrate Butterflies at Monarch Fest
Did you know? In 2017, the city of San Antonio was named the first Monarch Champion City by the National Wildlife Federation. In honor of the beautiful creatures, the San Antonio Zoo is hosting a two-day Monarch Fest celebrating “all things monarchs, milkweed, and migration!” Admission is included with zoo standard admission, and each attendee will receive free native milkweed and native nectar plant seeds.

10. Watch a Dr. Seuss Classic
Catch The Magik Theatre’s production of Dr. Seuss’ classic story The Cat in the Hat live at the Empire Theatre this month! Bring the kids and fall in love with the funniest, most mischievous cats in history.
