1. Bite Into Spring At The Poteet Strawberry Festival
Since 1948, the Poteet Strawberry Festival has been a cultural cornerstone of Poteet, TX and Atacosa County. The three-day bonanza features Country Western and Tejano performers, regional bands, gunslingers, carnival, contests, and a rodeo. This year, catch music performances by Randy Rogers Band and the Spazmatics, scope out the Strawberry Auction, and come hungry! In fact, maybe fast for a week beforehand, because the sprawl of pies, breads, cakes, and jellies at the “Taste of Texas” food show is truly unparalleled.

2. Turn The Page At The San Antonio Book Festival
Bibliophiles unite at the San Antonio Book Festival, a celebration of national and local authors! From author talks and readings to onstage storytelling performances, intimate luncheons, and the Literary Feast(featuring historian Ron Chernow, the author of Hamilton), this event offers a tome of activities and endless book-signing opportunities. Donors can even join the authors for a private “Esquire Tavern Epilogue” afterparty.

3. Put The “Art” In “pARTy”
Fiesta is so big, it needs a pre-party...and the San Antonio Museum of Art is stepping up with its Art Party! Head over to the museum for cocktails by The Esquire Tavern, live music by Blackbird Sing, and themed museum tours.

With an eleven-day packed event calendar, the festival draws crowds from across the state to enjoy family fun, parades, concert, music, carnival rides, and food while supporting local nonprofits. 5. Serve Up Some Memories At The Tennis World Group Playoff
Watch history in the making as Fed Cup tennis, the world’s largest annual international team women’s sport competition, heats up the court in Texas for the first time at the Tennis World Group Playoff. The United States will face Switzerland at the Freeman Coliseum. Tennis fans, this event is not to be missed!

6. Take An Art-Inspiring Walk
Witty with words? The San Pedro Creek Culture Park invites poets, writers, and journalists on the “Writers Take A Walk” exclusive guided tour of the park and sneak peek at the new construction. Pens, paper, and smart devices welcome for scribbling down inspired writings. The morning includes light refreshments and prizes for poems created during the event.

7. Laugh On National Public Radio
“Wait, Wait... Don’t Tell Me,” the NPR favorite and award-winning comedy news show, is coming south to San Antonio. Listeners can see the show live (a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!) in the stunning setting of Trinity University’s Laurie Auditorium.

8. Heat Things Up At The Jalapeno Festival
Ever dream of competing in a Jalapeno Eating Contest? We sure haven’t, but you’re probably braver than us. Stop by Alamo Beer Company for their Jalapeno Festival, and if you can handle the heat, you may go home with a cash prize! Milder jalapeno lovers can enjoy a day of pepper-inspired eats and treats from local vendors, plus all the thrills of a Pre-Fiesta celebration.

9. Sip Spanish Wine
As part of its “Getting Into Grapes” series, High Street Wine Co. in the heart of The Pearl is hosting “Starting To Sip Spain,” a class on the history and tastes of Spanish wine. The class is taught by a wine educator and includes a selection of five quality wines paired with a masterfully-planned cheeseboard. They had us at wine, but who are we to say no to fine cheeses?

10. Test Your Courage at Jurassic Quest
Test your bravery at Jurassic Quest, the largest dinosaur event in North America! Spend the day laughing and learning with dino-rides, activities, and exhibits for the whole family. Fearless folks can ride a 24-foot T-Rex, while those who prefer to keep their feet on the ground can take part in a fossil dig.
