1. Helotes
A prime example of northwest San Antonio’s dynamic growth, Helotes is a historic town with a modern twist. Located off of Loop 1604 in San Antonio’s northwest corner, Helotes (founded in 1868 as a simple stagecoach stop) is currently home to nearly 10,000 residents. The “Old West” feel continues through to today with local favorites spots like Floore’s Country Store, Old Town Helotes, and Helotes Creek Winery. Some of the larger neighborhoods in this community include Helotes Cree k Ranch, Wildhorse, Helotes Crossing, Helotes Park Estates, Helotes Park Terrace, Helotes Ranch Acres, Sonoma Ranch, and more. A gated community packed with perks, Canyons At Scenic Loop is nestled in a quiet northwest corner of the San Antonio area. Tucked away in Spring Branch, TX (a tiny community near Canyon Lake and the Guadalupe River), River Crossing is 40 miles north of downtown San Antonio via Hwy 281. Besides all the natural beauty of the surrounding landscape, neighborhood amenities include tennis courts, basketball courts, walking trails, picnic areas, and close proximity to the Hill Country golfer’s paradise: River Crossing Club. With approximately 1,000 home sites (with a minimum lot size of 1 acre), River Crossing homes can range anywhere from $364k to $830k.

Head north on I-10, and you’ll find yourself immersed in the rustic elegance of the Texas Hill Country. Home to nearly 7,000 people, Fair Oak s Ranch feels like an outstretched Hill Country resort: offering eleven miles of nature trails, several family-friendly parks, a country club that offers two eighteen-hole golf courses, twelve tennis courts, pools, and countless acres of rural landscaping.
