There are so many San Antonio attractions and events on any given weekend, it can seem overwhelming to choose just one. In this series, all pressure is off! We'll hand-select 25 fun things to do in San Antonio each month, just to make researching for the next Friday celebration, date night, or family outing a little easier. 1. Get Fit for Fall
Too much ice cream this summer? Every Tuesday at Travis Park, Fitness in the Park offers participants a well-rounded outdoor workout for anyone who is interested! This boot-camp-style class is the perfect way to take advantage of the weather and meet new workout buddies.

2. Relax with Jazz
A tradition that has lasted 13 seasons, Sunday Jazz at the Witte will continue this month with special guests Henry Brun and the Latin Playerz. Come out and relax at the new Witte Museum! Bring your lawn chairs and maybe a snack or two as you stretch out under the trees of the outdoor amphitheater. It’s the perfect option for a lazy Sunday, giving you the chance to relax and enjoy some spectacular jazz music.

3. Immerse Yourself in Fotoseptiembre
An annual event for the San Antonio and surrounding areas. Fotoseptiembre celebrates photography and art through several exhibitions, as well as a festival that allows for cultural expression and new ideas. You’ll find yourself intrigued and your senses challenged with the amazing photos that artists have created. Don’t miss out on this event and grab a ticket soon!

The Nitro Circus Live tour is coming to San Antonio for a night that you won’t easily forget! This BMX/motocross show features over thirty world class athletes performing the biggest tricks and jaw-dropping stunts. Some of these tricks have never even been attempted before, ensuring that you’ll be stunned at the uniqueness of the show. 5. Celebrate the End of Summer
Labor Day is a day that ceremoniously marks the end of summer and the beginning of a new season. Celebrate at Market Square with live music, food, arts, crafts, and other vendors. Whether you choose to come on Saturday or actual Labor Day, it’s a fun event to get you and your family out of the house. Make a few more memories before summer officially comes to an end!

6. Discover Rock Art

The Lower Pecos region of West Texas is home to multiple historic sites with rock art. These ancient sites showcase prehistoric life, as well as the art that was created on cave walls and rock wall canyons. Now, the Witte is proud to offer special tours through some of this land to help raise awareness and foster appreciation of this history. 7. Dine in the Skyroom
Simon Majumdar is a world-renowned chef, author, and broadcaster, and he’s here in San Antonio, offering you a chance to dine. 8. Experience Guns N’ Roses

9. Grow Something Fresh
Have you ever wanted a citrus tree in your very own backyard? The San Antonio hot climate is great for growing citrus, and the San Antonio Botanical Gardens is here to teach you how with a two-hour workshop. You’ll learn the secrets to helping your tree survive drought and harsh winters, get tips on planting and have time to talk to a true horticulturist. After the class, you’ll have all the knowledge you need to grow your own tree.

10. Have a Picnic

Pack up a picnic and get a dose of history as you enjoy locally grown food, straight from the Mission San Juan Farm. Additionally, you’ll have the chance to tour the farm and mission, enjoy live music, and have a cocktail as the sun goes down. Picnic blankets and chairs are highly recommended, and the hope is that you’ll learn something new and get a greater understanding of the history behind this amazing local site.

11. Get Out in the Park
The annual Six Flags event Out in the Park is an LGBT outdoor dance party, bringing recognition and understanding to the community. While this event does require a ticket, it’s a great opportunity for you to support the local group and raise recognition. There will be plenty of entertainment with food, music, dancing, and of course, the Six Flags Fiesta Texas rides! Enjoy a fun evening outside!

12. See an Opera
Operas don’t come to San Antonio very often, but September brings into town a special performance of Macbeth! This Shakespearean tragedy is full of intrigue, mystery, power, destruction, and witchcraft. You’ll be stunned by the powerful music and the drama that accompanies it. The opera will be performed in Italian with English subtitles. Get dressed up and go down to the Tobin Center for a memorable performance!

13. Explore San Antonio Heritage
This year launches the World Heritage Festival, with multiple events and stories focused on our area of San Antonio. The San Antonio Story Exhibit opens first, showcasing the amazing and unique culture of the San Antonio Missions. Contemporary artists have created original pieces of art, inspired by the missions. In an effort to educate and involve the city in the past, this event is open to the public and encourages you to bring friends, out of town guests, or children so that they may learn more about what makes San Antonio such a great city.

14. Celebrate the Diversity of Jazz
Celebrate over 33 years of jazz on September 15th & 16th with a completely free event in Travis Park. Get ready for local talent, diverse styles of jazz music, food, arts, and crafts. The live music is sure to bring a festive vibe to your evening and this particular park has just been recently renovated! Bring the kids and educate them on this historic music that’s still making waves today.

15. Learn the Art of Photography
If you’ve always been interested in photography, but never had the chance to practice or learn, now is your time! The San Antonio Botanical Gardens has started up a weekday photography series where they will have a professional come in, teach the basics, and help you learn more about photography in general. Hands-on experience is always the best, especially when it comes to taking pictures. And, at the gardens, you’re sure to have plenty of gorgeous subjects!

16. Go Old School with Green Day

17. Bike the Missions

Have you ever wanted to bike around for a tour of the San Antonio Missions? The World Heritage Festival is promoting the missions this month with a 22-mile bike ride that gives you a taste of history. You’ll start with a 5K walk and ultimately end up biking your way around the historic sites, allowing you to get a greater understanding of the culture that has built and shaped this city. With exercise and educational opportunities, who wouldn’t want to take part?

18. Get a Piece of the Pie
The Austin brand “Tiny Pies” is coming to San Antonio for just one day! Sharing space with Lick Ice Creams, the mother-daughter duo will be selling their famous miniature pies, all made with high-quality ingredients by hand. With flavors like cherry, apple, pecan, and blueberry, this is the perfect opportunity to welcome Fall with one of Fall’s favorite desserts! Get ready for a legendary pie! In addition, Lick will be offering ice cream to make your combo “a la mode.” Come early to avoid the line and to make sure they don’t run out!

19. Run for the Zoo!

Get ready for another exercise event and a chance to support the wildlife of the zoo! The annual Zoo Run is an 8-mile relay race composed of teams of four. Each runner will cover two miles as they race through Brackenridge Park. All proceeds go back to the zoo in attempts to secure a future for wildlife (specifically endangered species and those that need more funding). If you love the zoo, make sure to come out and support the cause. Register a team and you’ll get a free admission ticket to the zoo!

20. Find Your Sanctuary
The classic story The Hunchback of Notre Dame is coming to life on the stage of The Playhouse. Featuring gypsies, cathedral bells, misunderstood characters, and themes of love and acceptance, this play is sure to capture your heart. 21. Brunch at Liberty
If you’re a huge fan of brunch, then you won’t want to miss this one! Hosted by Blue Star Contemporary and Liberty Bar, this Berlin Brunch will also discuss art and create an international dialogue about two people’s experience at the Kunstlerhaus Bethanien. Delicious food, remarkable stories, and good company will all be provided, but you will need to reserve a spot. Additionally, clear some space in your stomach for the delicious food that will undoubtedly be served!

22. Cultivate Your Garden
Get your green thumb ready for fall with an interactive workshop! Talk about conserving water for landscape, growing your garden, and shifting plants for fall. Due to the variety of sessions, you’ll find that the classes can be tailored and hands-on for you, depending on your topic of choice. There will also be vendors for you to buy plants from, ask questions, and shop around. Cultivate your garden and watch it grow!

23. Get Ready for a Fiesta

Come out and celebrate Fiestas Patrias at Market Square! This two-day event will have entertainment, music, amazing homemade Mexican food, free giveaways, and more. The benefit of this fiesta? All of the proceeds earned will go towards scholarships for college bound students. You can support a great cause and have a great time!

24. See Janet Sing
Janet Jackson is more than a legend: her career has earned her numerous hits and awards, and now she’s back with her “State of the World” tour. 25. Have a Beer and the Garden
Want to relax for an evening in the Botanical Garden of San Antonio? Brews and Blooms is a unique event that allows you to sample from craft breweries, all while enjoying live music in the beautiful gardens. You must be 21 or older to attend the event, and be sure to come hungry because fun food trucks will be in attendance as well. Experience new tastes with pale ales and IPA’s with new releases, all from San Antonio breweries.
