1. Celebrate the 4th!
Of course, you have tons of Independence Day options in San Antonio. But why not celebrate with the biggest and best party in town? Woodlawn Lake hosts San Antonio’s official July 4th event every year, complete with family games, food, entertainment, and an amazing fireworks show. It’s the perfect way to bring your family together for this wonderful holiday!

2. Spend Summer at the Witte
The Witte Museum has gone through some major changes over the last year and is better than ever! All summer long, they’ve got something going on for your little ones. Nature Camp, Wild about Texas Camp, Under the Sea Camp, Junior Paleontologist Camp, and so many other options await you this summer. Some camps are offered to specific age groups, while others are open to everyone. We encourage you to register ahead of time to ensure your spot for any of the various camps. Your child will come back with new knowledge and new friends!

3. Watch Theatre at the Pearl
Get ready for some exciting theater at the Pearl! Magik Theatre is in collaboration with the Pearl Brewery to bring you professional family theater with some amazing classics like Rumpelstiltskin, Goldilocks, and The Three Little Pigs. Each performance will be at a different date to ensure that you can go to all of them! These live stage versions will bring your favorite stories to life, and we promise that your kids will be completely enthralled.

4. Have a Coke, Share a Smile
Get ready for a day of American tradition...and with it, a round of Coca-Cola! Six Flags Fiesta Texas invites you to partake in the festivities with the area’s largest fireworks display, a classic coke, and lots of fun with friends and family. If you present a can of coke with your admission, you’ll receive early access to select rides! Come to the park for a 4th of July celebration anytime from July 2-4.

5. Find Your Inner Ogre

Shrek The Musical tells the hilarious story of Shrek, the beloved but sometimes misunderstood ogre, on a quest to rescue Princess Fiona. Musical numbers have been added into the mix for an unexpected yet unforgettable performance by Woodlawn Theatre. You’ll love this new take on an old classic. 6. Sample Tasty Snacks
Here’s an event that you and your family won’t want to miss: Health Holidays Kitchen Demonstration. This event series gives you healthy alternatives to some “typical” holiday treats. This season’s holiday? The Fourth of July! The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio hosts and allows you to sample the snacks and learn how you can prepare something that’s healthier than ice cream, hot dogs, and chips for Independence Day. Your ticket to the Witte will allow you to participate in this fun and education cooking event.

7. Rock and Roll with Santana
What better way to celebrate the 4th than with an iconic, Grammy award-winning rock icon: Santana. This group has won ten Grammy Awards and has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. 8. Shake it Up with Hairspray
The Broadway musical Hairspray is coming to San Antonio! This fun-filled musical takes place in the 60s and documents the social prejudices of race and beauty, all in the midst of catchy beats and exciting dance moves. The musical is a classic and will take you back to another era. Dance along in your seat as you watch the main character Tracy Turnblad shake up her hometown of Baltimore!

9. Catch a Movie at the Pearl

For the rest of summer, the Pearl will host Monday Movies. This is a chance for you to catch a family movie in the park. Bring your own snacks, a blanket, and maybe even a few lawn chairs. The July theme is “Cinema Culinara”, featuring food-based such as Ratatouille, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, and more. August has the theme of “Hecho en San Antonio” with films like Selena. It’s a great opportunity to bring the family together for a little fun during the week.

10. Celebrate Faith, Family, & Freedom
Kick off July 4th early with Cornerstone Church and their Faith, Family, & Freedom event. Combat Marine Oliver North will be the guest speaker talking about his latest book. Additionally, Grammy-Award-winner Larry Gatlin will be singing for musical entertainment. Later, an amazing fireworks display will light up the city to kick off your holiday week. 11. Show Your Pride
Pride San Antonio is an organization that provides numerous events around the year to celebrate the LGBT community. On July 1, you can join in for “Pride Bigger Than Texas”, a festival that will be held at Crockett Park. There will be a parade, a bike ride event, music, food, drinks, and so many different forms of entertainment. Don’t miss out on the chance to support this organization and show your pride!

12. Pop Over to Pink’s

13. Run for Wine

The Ultimate Wine Run is an adventurous 5K event that allows you to run through a vineyard with friends. Additionally, there will be a wine tasting (also known as motivation to run), a DJ, a dance floor, and food trucks. It will be a lively party filled with delicious wines from all over the country. Every runner will receive a t-shirt, a souvenir glass, and a 5oz pour of wine once you cross that finish line. What more do you need?

14. Honor the Spirit of Frida
Frida Kahlo’s paintings continue to captivate international audiences. This year marks the second annual “Frida Festival” in San Antonio. The festival’s goal is to honor her spirit, educate others about her work, and provide an opportunity to embrace her culture. The event will include a unique art gallery, handmade merchandise, musical performances, and culinary traditions of Mexico. Frida left a legacy, and this festival honors that legacy while helping you to discover more about this famous artist.

15. Register for Cirque!
Cirque Kids Camp is an amazing four-day camp that allows your child to learn the basics of comedy, acrobatics, aerial arts, juggling, clown skills, and puppetry! This unique camp combines all of these skills into one day camp, so if your child is interested in any of these areas, sign up quickly! The days will be formatted into little “workshops” for the kids so that they can individualize on each skill. Taught by professionals in the field, your child will go home with legitimate skills. This fun-filled camp will have them laughing, exercising, and learning new things!

16. See Shawn Sing
Shawn Mendes is a pop icon right now. Known for songs like “Stitches” and “Treat You Better”, his songs are catchy and have a great pop beat. He’s coming to San Antonio for his next concert and it’s sure to be a great one! Originally from Canada, the singer/songwriter is only 18 years old but holds a lot of potential in his career. 17. Celebrate Cowboy Culture

18. Dance with the Stars

19. Have a Picnic for the 4th

20. Enjoy a Day at the McNay
The McNay Art Museum will open its doors for “Free Family Day” on July 9. Your kids will love the structured play that the museum is offering. It gives adults a chance to sit back and relax with supervised play!

21. See a Legendary Concert
Earth, Wind, & Fire is a timeless American band hailed as one of the best of its time! 24. See A Family Film
The World Heritage Office is hosting a free screening of the movie Sing, a story about animals attempting to save a theater with a magnificent singing competition. During the show, you can purchase food and movie snacks. It’s also a pet-friendly venue, so bring your furry friend for this free event! While the venue opens at 7 PM, keep in mind that the movie won’t begin until 15 minutes after dusk.
