One of the greatest benefits of living in San Antonio is the variety of “things” to see and do. With styles and music ranging from jazz to two-stepping, this night of variety will have something for everybody. - 2. See Miss High School Crowned
The Miss America pageant has been around for decades and has a certain ambiance that people just can’t avoid whenever it appears on television. This year, the Miss High School pageant is being held right here in San Antonio! San Antonio locals have the unique opportunity to watch the pageant live and see Miss High School crowned at the end! The pageant has the traditional aspects: evening wear, swimsuit competition, and of course, the interview section. You can watch it all right here in town by purchasing a ticket for the event. - 3. Experience Art on the River
The San Antonio Museum of Art’s latest exhibition, Highest Heaven, has been going on for a few weeks now. Take this opportunity to view the exhibit with the company of Art PhD, Katherine McAllen. You’ll get a different take on the art from her knowledgeable perspective, but also, once viewing the exhibit, hop in one of the riverboats and experience the art the way that it would have been viewed originally. The river tour will take you to the San Fernando Cathedral where you’ll get to see how the pieces would’ve been seen hundreds of years ago. This exciting art experience will give you a new take on the Highest Heaven pieces and allow you to learn more about them in the process.

- 4. Party with San Antonio People!
Get ready for this summer’s hottest block party! This “mixer of the year” is just to celebrate the #GoodPeople of San Antonio! The family friendly event promises food trucks, arts and crafts, dancing with live music, door prizes, and more! You can let your kids partake in a drum class, chalk painting, and even get their picture taken in a photo booth. You don’t need an excuse for an event like this; just come out and celebrate summertime!

- 5. See A Country Legend
Country legend Loretta Lynn has been around since the 1960s and is still making great country music today. She is a self-taught singer and songwriter with a distinct style and voice that many people recognize worldwide. Her name is in the Songwriters Hall of Fame and the Country Music Hall of Fame for songs like “I’m a Honky Tonk Girl” and “You’re Lookin’ at Country.” Don’t miss out on the special opportunity to hear this country star sing right here in San Antonio. - 6. Swim On Over for the Olympics
The Olympics are right around the corner and San Antonians have the rare opportunity to watch athletes train! The 2016 US Olympic Swim Team is training at Northside Aquatic Center here in San Antonio. You must purchase an observation pass in order to watch the practice sessions this weekend. It’s an amazing opportunity to see what these swimmers have to do in order to get ready for the Summer Olympics. You won’t want to miss out on this amazing event! - 7. Get Magical
The Magicians Agency has their opening night at the Magik Theater this weekend! Exciting tricks, daring stunts, and daunting ideas, these magicians will have you wondering “How did they do that?!” the entire show. You may get to see a woman levitate, a man disappear, and all the optical illusions you can handle! These amazing performers will have you on the edge of your seat for the entire show! - 8. Grayze on Grayson
Recently, Grayze on Grayson has become quite the popular place to dine. This restaurant offers a casual atmosphere with a delicious menu. - 9. Build a Terrarium
Terrariums have become quite trendy over the past few months and now you have the opportunity to build your own! Bring your child to the Kids Garden Club at Rainbow Gardens and watch as they create their own terrarium masterpiece! Explore the different plants and choose what you want in your piece. It’s a great summer activity for little ones, ages 4-10. Your child will be able to learn more about plant life and they get to take the terrarium home afterwards. San Antonio is holding its second annual Indie Book Fest this weekend!
