KW Non-Profit Group to Host Golf Tournament in Support of the Down Syndrome Association of South Texas
SAN ANTONIO, TX – September 27, 2016 - Scheduled for October 13th, 2016, the non-profit group Hearts and Hands will be hosting their 13th Annual Charity Golf Tournament at the Quarry Golf Course in San Antonio, Texas. Formed by Keller Williams Heritage REALTORS®, the Hearts and Hands Foundation is dedicated to serving the needs of the community, choosing the Down Syndrome Association of South Texas as 2016?s beneficiary.
On a mission to surpass a proceed goal of $80,000, organizers of the 13th Annual Charity Golf Tournament are optimistic about this year’s turnout. “We have had great success in the past,” recalls Roslyn Casey, president of the Hearts and Hands board. “The golf tournament sold out in record time this year, and we are hoping the entire event will attract an even greater number of donors, volunteers, and attendees.” In addition to the golf tournament, the event includes dinner, music, and an auction.
Proceeds from the golf tournament will be donated to the Down Syndrome Association of South Texas, who plans to use the funds to promote the work of the organization as they expand their services to more community members. “We are so excited to be raising funds for The Down Syndrome Association. It is an incredible organization deserving of our support,” says Casey. Last year, the Hearts and Hands Foundation raised more than $70,000 for the Children’s Bereavement Center of South Texas, a center providing grief counseling and support to thousands of children, young adults, caregivers, and community members each year.
The non-profit group is also using this fundraiser to raising money to help the DSASTX send children with down syndrome to a sports clinic that provides them the opportunity to participate in appropriate physical activities, which promotes inclusion, optimize physical functioning, and enhance overall well-being. “A donation of just $500 will send five kiddos to this clinic every week for a month,” explains Casey. “If we were able to send 100 kids or more, that would be incredible.” Donors are encouraged to visit www.kwheartsandhands.org to submit a donation of any amount.
Because the 13th Annual Charity Golf Tournament will raise money primarily through the support of local businesses and community members, Hearts & Hands is requesting donations for their silent auction as well as monetary donations. Any donations are eligible for tax-deductibility.
