25 Things to Do in San Antonio in November

One of the greatest benefits of living in San Antonio is the variety of “things” to see and do. In fact, there are so many San Antonio attractions and events on any given weekend that it can seem overwhelming to choose just one.

In this series, all pressure is off! 25 fun things to do in San Antonio will be chosen each month to make researching for the next Friday celebration, date night, or family outing a little more simple. Take time to read and explore all of the many options for the month of November as we move into the holiday season and celebrate Thanksgiving!

1. Get Lost in a Maize

November is all about the harvest season. And what better way to celebrate Autumn than with the famous South Texas Maize? Spanning seven acres, this maze offers a fun puzzle for you and your family to figure out. They also have corn poppers, treats, and games. It’s Hill Country fun in South Texas, and we promise it’ll get you into the fall spirit!

2. Celebrate Indian Culture

Diwali San Antonio is a fabulous cultural event that symbolizes the victory of good vs. evil and remains a true festival tradition in Indian culture. Now, you can celebrate this wonderful event right here in San Antonio with free admission! There will be entertainment, Diya floats, fireworks, classic Indian cuisine, and so much more! It’s a city-wide celebration that you won’t want to miss out on.

3. Get Fit in Travis Park

Travis Park offers monthly fitness dates for anyone who wants to work on his or her physique. This month, it’s a fitness boot camp that includes a variety of activities. You’ll be working on power, strength, endurance, stamina, and speed. It’s a high-intensity workout that promises to help you work up a sweat and get your heart rate up. Why not enjoy exercise outside now that our weather has finally cooled down? Bring a water bottle for yourself and make sure to wear running shoes!

4. Remember “Dia de los Muertos”

Dia de los Muertos is a Mexican holiday that serves to remember loved ones who have passed away. San Antonio definitely celebrates this day as a part of our culture as well, and this year is no exception. Head over to Pearl Park for a Dia de los Muertos celebration with music, altars, a procession, crafts, and more. This two-day event promises to have something for everyone and will educate you on the meaning of this day. Get ready for two wonderful days of culture and remembrance as we look to honor those who are no longer with us.

5. Understand Math at the Witte

The Witte has done it again with another fabulous exhibit! 2the Xtreme is a math event that truly puts math to life with six different interactive galleries. Your kids can see how math is used in real life with subjects like design, music, sports, video games, dance, and more. They’ll have the opportunity to create and play their own video game, create an animated movie, compete against each other, and learn more in the process! The Witte does such a wonderful job at making sure their exhibits are fun yet educational to ensure your kids have a good time while learning.

6. Hear an Old Legend or Story

You may not be all that familiar with old stories and fables like “Rikki-Tikki-Tavi” and “How the Elephant Got Her Trunk”, but you will enjoy learning about them! Come see these old legends come to life through storytelling set in colonial India (including culture, music, and dance!).

7. Entertain Yourself

Who doesn’t love a good Sunday brunch? This month, Paramour is hosting a fabulous Burlesque brunch with entertainment by Stars & Garters. Along with delicious food, prepared by Chef Jason Dady, you’ll have the opportunity to witness an awesome show! You do need a reservation for this one and that will include a bottle of champagne for you and your date!

8. Cheer on the Spurs!

With basketball season upon us, it’s time to start cheering on the Spurs once again! This month, there are quite a few games going on, and we wanted to highlight some of the big ones for you, so make sure you mark your calendars! While the first game of the season is a small one, it’s sure to be a packed stadium with die-hard fans ready to start the season. Our team will also be playing the Phoenix Suns, the LA Clippers and the Milwaukee Bucks this month. Get a ticket for your game of choice and get ready to cheer!

9. Be a Guest for a Movie

Everyone raved over Disney’s live-action remake of the classic story Beauty and the Beast. Now, it’s your time to watch it outside at Mission Marquee Plaza for family movie night! Pile your car full of lawn chairs, blankets, snacks, and your kids because this is going to be a great family event that you won’t want to miss. The venue will open at 7:00 PM and the movie will begin shortly after sunset. This is a tale as old as time that will manage to charm every audience member.

10. Get Your Wurstfest On

Did you miss Wurstfest during the month of October? Don’t worry! You have another opportunity to attend this unique celebration of German culture in neighboring New Braunfels, TX. There will be amazing and traditional German food, carnival rides, games, beer, dancing, special guests, and plenty of entertainment for everyone. 11. See A Horror

Little Shop of Horrors is known to be a classic...but have you seen the teen version? The Woodlawn Theatre is presenting this wonderful show that tells the story of a quest for fame and fortune with an incredible price. The Woodlawn always does a fantastic job with any show that they perform, and this will be no exception. There are multiple show dates but you’ll want to get your ticket ahead of time!

12. Have an Artsy Date Night

Looking for your next date night? The Olmos Park neighborhood invites you to come for a stroll and experience the art that they have around every corner. Fall in love with the history and artistic qualities of Olmos Park, and maybe even grab a bite to eat at one of their many restaurants. Either way, you’ll be hand in hand with someone you love...and art is always better when it’s shared!

13. Run the Race

DA V is a nonprofit organization that helps with veterans and their families, providing recovery, job opportunities, and general help. DAV is hosting a 5K run for support of these veterans to help raise awareness and money for this outstanding patriotic cause. Veterans can register and run for free, and group registration is allowed. Come on out for this awesome event and support others as they run, or challenge yourself to run the race!

14. Prepare for the Pub Crawl

Surely you’ve done a pub-crawl before in downtown San Antonio? If not, now is your chance! The World Famous Pub Crawl is back and you are invited to partake in the various stops and do your best to keep up! 15. Put on A Mask

As previously mentioned, Dia del os Muertos is quickly approaching, and the Tobin Center invites you to a one-of-a-kind exhibit where you can feel like you’re taking part in a cirque-inspired act, watching jaw-dropping circus acts on stage. You’re required to don your most memorable mask in honor of the masquerade formal cocktail attire dress code. Get ready for live entertainment, costumes, and a memorable evening.

16. Have a Night at the Museum

Ready to see a play that will make your kids smile? As a new production, The Ants Go Marching tells the story of two ants as they embark on a journey of learning, communication, and friendship. This play is geared for kids under the age of five, featuring an easy-to-follow storyline that includes lots of rhythm and dance, and opportunity for imagination. It is the theatre for the young and we promise that it will be a fantastic production for your little one.

18. See a Seasonal Ballet

It’s Nutcracker season! The famous ballet makes an appearance every holiday season, and this year is no different! Get ready for an earlier performance than normal with the Children’s Ballet of San Antonio. The story is the same, but you’ll be amazed at how child dancers have the uncanny ability to bring the story to life with their amazing movement. Don’t miss out and be sure to get your ticket early for the magical show!

19. Celebrate Thanksgiving

21. Listen to a TED Talk

Are you a fan of TED talks? Now, TED San Antonio has arrived, providing you with a way to support this nonprofit event and hear about new ideas from various members of the community. This year’s theme is, “Now is the Time,” and includes topics ranging from global to local issues. They want and hope to spread awareness to anyone who is interested. It’s a great way to allow your voice to be heard in the community and learn about something new and relevant.

22. See the Christmas Lights

What better way to kick off the season of Christmas than with the annual lighting of Incarnate Word? Every year, the San Antonio university lights the entire campus in a beautiful display of Christmas lights that stay lit for the season. On November 18, they’re kicking off the season with their lights being turned on as a holiday tradition. It’s a great way to start showing that holiday spirit and get geared up for Christmas!

23. Explore New Vehicles

Calling all car fans! The San Antonio Auto and Truck Show is here and promises to deliver the largest showroom in South Texas with exciting car displays, ways to personalize your vehicle, and driving experiences with new truck models. If you consider yourself to be a car-lover, you definitely want to make it out to the Henry B Gonzalez convention center for this big event over the weekend. Every year, this car show gets bigger and better so get ready for an awesome experience!

24. Ride the River

The Mission Reach Trail has been redone and redeveloped, just in time for the 2017 River Relay. This 5K run also gives you the option of a kayak race event, focusing on overall wellness. You can choose to do the race solo or develop a team. The area has been Bexar County’s largest environmental restoration project, and the finish line will be at Mission County Park. Afterwards, stay and enjoy food trucks, games, music, and beer. San Antonio has so much to offer with recreation and we highly suggest this fun family event!

25. Pop in for Christmas Shopping

Do you wish that you could knock out your Christmas shopping in one day? Now you can! With the new San Antonio Pop Shop America event, you’ll have the opportunity to shop hundreds of small business booths, antiques, vintage and handmade items. There is going to be an overwhelming number of opportunities and items for you to shop…we suggest coming in with a game plan! This is the first event of its kind here in San Antonio and with over fifty actual exhibiting makers, we feel confident that you’ll find the perfect holiday gift here.
